saned: permission problem with Deskjet_F300_series all-in-one

Dumb question - is the scanner listed in
/etc/udev/rules.d/60-libsane.rules? (I think it is the sane in F8 as
in Fc6.) If it is not listed, then the scanner symlink is not being
created. Unless they changes things, the permission change for a
scanner id keyed to the scanner symlink. (scanner-0, scanner-1, etc)
