Wpa_supplicant mystery

It was called wpa_supplicant long before NetworkManager used it.  It was 
initially only for setting up wpa authentication.   but it has been extended 
over the years.    fedora is a consumer of wpa_supplicant  upstream is 
http://w1.fi/wpa_supplicant/
