Boot DVD/CD in linux rescue mode.

At command prompt, type 'mount' and let me know what it says
about /mnt/sysimage and /mnt/sysimage/boot

I do not understand why you are seeing (ro) so I think you are talking
about the DVD. If you tell it to locate Linux installations, it should
automatically mount them at /mnt/sysimage
