That is going to hurt non-fedora users until mkinitrd catches up in 
their distro. Well, just thinking all is not lost, it appears that the 
revisor group has made mayflower available as a standalone rpm for EL-5. 
You could repackage it with a provides: mkinitrd, and a symlink from 
mayflower to mkinitrd. You'd need to use your own repo to get the 
package into your config. Just some ideas to toss around.
