Ah, a thought.  If we're to have:
> Version: 0

then instead of:
> Release: 0.X.20070911

I suggest:
> Release: 20070911.X%{?dist}
(where "X" is the traditional release number.)

That way, it sorts correctly; a 2008-based release will always
be later than 2007.

Sound reasonable?
