What is the "xfer mode report"?  I wasn't able to get Fedora 8 to do anything at
all with the drive, and copied the log messages in comment 18 above.  In comment
19 I gave all of the information about it that I knew how to get from a 2.4.27
kernel (using Knoppix).  If there's specific information that you would find
helpful, I'll need an explanation of how to find it.

Alternatively, I'm willing to ship the disk and the PCI/Cardbus interface card
to you, and pay return shipping for you to send it back when you're done with it.
