Hi Don,

Welcome to the community and thank you for your interest in getting
involved.

To add to Pauls comment, you can also open an issue (or more than 1) on
Github and it opens a dialog for you to explain your thinking, rationale
and it opens up a conversation where others can get involved. It might also
help you focus on certain areas and while no PR is the wrong PR, it could
save you the review nightmare of trying to change too many things at the
same time :) PRs can then follow from any issue you create.

Big +1 to small and frequent PRs, much easier to review and hopefully land!
