Greetings Red Hat Partners,
We are pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of the Red Hat
Hardware Certification Test Suite (hwcert-client-1.6.5-25.1) for
certification purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x.
The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite GA package
(hwcert-client-1.6.5-25.1) is an official release and should be used for
all Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x certification submissions. Results from
the current Red Hat hardware test suites (hwcert-client-1.6.4-57 for
RHEL6.x) will continue to be accepted for a period of 90 days from today.
The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite GA is available at the
following locations:
ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL6/hwcert-client/1.6.5/
and
https://rhn.redhat.com/network/software/packages/change_log.pxt?pid=803840
Highlights of the hwcert-client-1.6.5-25.1 test suite GA include:
* The INFO test no longer requires the kABI whitelist package be
installed unless a module not provided by the RHEL kernel package is loaded.
* The configuration has changed so that version 1.6.5-25.1 will default
to sending results files to the live hardware catalog. The RC version
sent its results packages to the test catalog only.
* hwcert-client-1.6.5-25.1 only supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
releases.
Reminder of the highlights of the hwcert-client-1.6.5-22 test suite
release candidate:
* The USB3 test no longer immediately fails when a USB2 device is
plugged in during testing.
* When pushing a result to the hardware catalog, the hwcert command will
now ask the user to provide a new username/password combination if their
login credentials were rejected by the catalog.
* New capability-specific 10GigEthernet, 1GigEthernet, and
100MegEthernet tests are added and will plan by default on the
appropriate devices. They will be listed instead of the 'network' test
seen in previous releases. The additional speed checking in each test
will help to avoid false passing results that are due to incorrect
connections.
* New capability-specific WirelessG and WirelessN tests are added and
will plan by default on the appropriate devices.
* The wlan and network tests are called from the WirelessX tests,
avoiding the need to run each of them separately on wireless adapters.
* The expresscard test now also uses dmidecode data to discover
expresscard hardware.
* New capability-specific USB2 and USB3 usb tests are added and will
plan by default on the appropriate devices.
* The usb test will now record the port type that has been tested.
* The 'hwcert' command will attempt to submit previously run, but not
submitted, test results to the hardware catalog before testing.
* The 'hwcert' command will print a summary, similar to the old 'v7
print' command, at the end of the current run. It will be displayed
before prompting to submit or save the results to the hardware catalog
or hwcert-server.
* Results xml.gz files can be viewed, downloaded locally, and uploaded
to the hardware catalog using the hwcert-server package web interface at:
http://{hwcert-server-IP}/hwcert/
* The 'hwcert-backend submit' command can be used on the system under
test to submit previously run packaged results xml.gz files to the
hardware catalog.
* The 'hwcert-backend save' command can be used on the system under test
to save previously run packaged results xml.gz files to a hwcert-server
test server.
* The hwcert-client-1.6.5-21 package has been tested against
pre-releases of RHEL6.5 on the x86, x86_64, ppc64, and s390x
architectures. If you encounter any problems, please file bugs against
the 'Red Hat Hardware Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com).
