Greetings Red Hat Partners,

We are pleased to announce the availability of an updated Red Hat
Hardware Certification User Guide (1.3) for official hardware
certification purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, and 7. The
guide is available at the following location on the Red Hat Customer Portal:

https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_Hardware_Certification/

Highlights of the updated Hardware Certification User Guide (1.3) include:

* Updated the “Opening a Standard Certification Request” section to show
the new catalog layout including Hardware Specification entries.

* Updated the “Opening a Hardware Specification Entry” section to
indicate that these entries are now mandatory for all RHEL 7
certifications and are recommended for all new RHEL 5 and RHEL 6
certifications.

* Updated the “Preparing the Test Environment” section to include the
files necessary to perform a RHEL 7 installation, including the
hwcert-client packages. Please note that the URLs in this section that
point to the RHEL 7 package locations on the Red Hat Customer Portal are
not yet available. They will be updated at the GA of RHEL 7. Until then,
please download the RHEL 7 RC from your partner-specific FTP location
or, if you do not have a partner FTP location, from the Red Hat Customer
Portal at the following link:

https://access.redhat.com/site/products/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/Get-Beta

The hwcert-client-1.7 packages may be downloaded from the
partners.redhat.com FTP site at the following link:

ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL7/

Contact your Engineering Partner Manager if you do not know the location
of your partner-specific FTP location for the RHEL 7 RC bits.

* Updated the swap file size recommendations for all RHEL certification
to reflect the latest developments in swap size calculation. Please see
Red Hat Knowledgebase article
https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/15244 for more information.
This kbase article is now listed in the sample kickstart files to notify
users that the default of 2GB may not be enough.

* Added a sample kickstart file for RHEL 7 systems under test. The
kickstart can be found at the following location:

ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/kickstarts/rhel7.0-x86_64-client.cfg

* Updated the “Using Locally-Hosted, Pre-Built Guest Files” section to
include information on the new pre-built guests for RHEL 7. These are
different from the guests that are used for RHEL 5 and 6 virtualization
testing and are stored in a different location on the local test server.

* Updated the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform Compute (RHEL
OSP Compute) section to indicate that all RHEL 7 server certifications
will automatically have a RHEL OSP 5 Compute certification opened for
them. These additional certifications will not be completed until the
RHEL OSP 5 product is available. Please see the updated Policy Guide in
a separate mail for more information on this new policy.

* Added a section for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. All RHEL 7
server certifications will automatically have a RHEV-H 7 certification
opened for them. These additional certifications will not be completed
until the RHEV-H 7 product is available. Please see the updated Policy
Guide in a separate mail for more information on this new policy.

* Added information on the new 40GigEthernet test.

* Added information on how to use the fv_network test to verify SR-IOV
functionality on RHEL 7 (an optional test).

* Added information on the new WirelessAC test.

We value your ongoing participation in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Hardware Certification efforts. Thank you for your continued
partnership. If you have any questions or comments, please do not
hesitate to contact your Partner Manager or Technical Account Manager.

Regards,

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Team
