Greetings Red Hat Partners,
We are pleased to announce the availability of an updated Red Hat
Hardware Certification Policy Guide (7.0-0) for official hardware
certification purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, and 7.
Please note that the updated Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide
(7.0-0) *is* an official update to the policy guide and supersedes all
previous policy guides. The updated Policy Guide will be applied to new
hardware certifications starting with the Release Candidate (RC) of Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0.
The guide is available at the following locations:
https://hardware.redhat.com/doc
https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_Hardware_Certification/
Highlights of the updated Hardware Certification Policy Guide (7.0-0)
include:
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is now added to the list of supported products.
* The Red Hat OpenStack product sections are now corrected to say Red
Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform.
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform is now included as part of
RHEL 7, x86_64 server certifications as was previously done with RHEL 6
and RHEL OSP 3 and 4. These certifications will not be displayed
publicly until the product is available.
* RHEL OSP 5 certification is included and open to all partners.
* Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor product support is now
added. This product will be listed in the hardware catalog starting
with the next major release of RHEV-H. These certifications are included
as part of RHEL 7 x86_64 server certifications in the same way as RHEL
OSP and will not be displayed publicly until the product is released.
* Red Hat Storage Server 2.1 product support is now added. This product
is included with RHEL6 x86_64 server certifications for those partners
who have an engineering relationship with RHSS. There are additional
product hardware support limits which are reviewed during the processing
of these certifications. RHSS 2.1 certification will not be displayed
publicly at this time.
* “Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hardware Certification” has been replaced
with “Red Hat Hardware Certification” to reflect the additional
RHEL-based Red Hat products that are also covered.
* Unintentional hardware features are now able to be bit depth specific.
I.e. features may be described as “for 64-bit only” when they are not
supported on any 32-bit operating systems. This additional flexibility
allows for advanced new hardware features on RHEL 6 and 5 for 64-bit
without creating a requirement in 32-bit as well.
* FCoE is now allowed to be fully software-based when necessary and will
cover the requirement for FCoE enabled hardware.
* 40GigEthernet and 802.11ac policies are now added to the 4.7 Class
Requirements Table. 40 Gb/s Ethernet hardware uses the 40GigEthernet
test. 802.11ac hardware may utilize either the 802.11ac or 802.11n tests
until full bandwidth support for ac is included in RHEL.
* Other minor bug/typo fixes outlined in the change log below.
If you encounter any problems or have any comments regarding the Red Hat
Hardware Certification Policy Guide, please file bugs against the 'Red
Hat Hardware Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla
