As to your side question, no, I don't think there is a way to print from 
the Gnome PDF Viewer.  I ran into the same problem with Nautilus, so I 
just installed xpdf, but I just changed the file type associations.  
Perhaps, since Nautilus and Evo are both gnome projects, if you change 
the association in nautilus it will make the change happen in Evo (?).
