In addition to turning off internet access with the cron job, you can
also make it add a firewall rule that redirects all attempts at web
access to a local http server serving up a simple "go to bed!" page. It
would be similar in theory to the redirects used to setup transparent
squid proxies and whatnot. That would make it seem more official and
friendly rather than having web access just suddenly disappear.
