If you started with the k12ltsp version, you should have a bunch of
helper scripts in /usr/sbin/get.* that also have desktop icons under
"get additional software" if you log in as root.  You can execute them
by double-clicking the icon or typing the script name, or you can
look at the script to see the relevant command.  In this case it
is "up2date -i --nosig jre j2re-plugin".  I assume this requires the
modified /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources that comes with k12ltsp.

I'm not sure why this doesn't work, but you get a free gmail.com account
and set it up to use pop with evolution or any standard mailer.
