[K12OSN] local apps in K12LTSP 5? How?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has a quick how-to on getting local apps running
in K12LTSP 5.  I'd like to be able to do it without an NIS server if
possible as I already use samba/ldap.  I've seen the how-to on the
ltsp.org site, but it's over a year old....I was wondering if things had
become easier or something.  Security is not a big issue at this
point....I'm looking for quick and dirty.
