[K12OSN] OT: missing: /lib/modules/2.6.19-1.2895.fc6/modules.dep

Help me Obi-Wan....  I can't boot the last two fc6 kernels.  at boot I
get errors about missing  /lib/modules/2.6.19-1.2895.fc6/modules.dep
then I have no network interfaces.  I read somewhere that running
depmod -a as root solves it.  When I do this from a good kernel it
creates the right stuff in /lib/modules but when I reboot it's gone.
I tried making it non-writeable for root but it stil got erased.  I
tried puttin /sbin/depmod -a in rc.local but I think that happens too
late.  losing....hair...must find...answer.
