Oh, you're quite correct.  That was kinda the point of my last post. 
When Edubuntu does catch up--and I expect that they will--it'll be
pretty slick indeed.

I do look forward to trying out the goodies in LTSP 5 when I get some
time.  The latter has been in scarce supply over the last year....
