Prompt command line for "linux checkmedia" or screen for "Test" CD

Sounds like you do not have values set for the prompt & timeout in your
isolinux.cfg file. Try values like:
  prompt 60
  timeout 600
and see if you get a boot: prompt line on which you can enter 'linux
mediacheck'
