http://freshrpms.net/ has RPM packages that will allow you to play .mpg
files and over multimedia files. Totem, for one, is a GTK2 based movie
player. You can add freshrpms.net to your /etc/yum.conf with..

[freshrpms]
name=Fedora Linux $releasever - $basearch - freshrpms
baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/$releasever/$basearch/freshrpms

I have not installed any of these packages, so I do not know how well
they work.
