Thanks for that.  It seems all the windows users I know do this kind of thing
all the time, and their stuff just works.

I'm amazed that there is nothing set up to do this already in a RH9 or FC1
install, and that there is so little response to questions about it.

I'm guessing that the Linux community (represented here anyway) must not
have much need for this stuff... :-(

I haven't used yum, so I'm not sure about that end of things, but I can
certainly get an rpm or three and install them.

Any other places to ask that might have knowledgeable folks to help me on
