xterm error question

from host A, did:
telnet HostB
setenv DISPLAY HostA:0.0
In another terminal on HostA terminal did: xhost +
in telnet session terminal did: xterm
got this error:
xterm Xt error.
can't open display HostA:0.0

HostB is NIS client.

/etc/hosts and /etc/passwd files look ok
on NIS server and client.
