That was my original plan, but as plans go it hasn't worked out so
well just yet. I used Sane for my dad's expensive all-in-one and it's
worked fine, although it does seem to get buggered up by updates now
and again. However it seems that I cannot find a new, inexpensive
scanner supported by Sane right now.
Two ideas:
1) Buy what we want and use it under Windows until Sane catches up, if ever.
2) Buy an HP for a bit more money and use the HP drivers. Seems
reasonable, except it's a bit more money... ($40...)
Probably will go with #2 as both my wife and son are now on Linux and
I don't want to do anything that goes against their momentum.
