Yes, it connects to the internet so what it's telling me is the modem is talking to the LinkSys box and the downlink is getting to my basement switch/wireless box as both the X-Box and wireless connections seem to work (I haven't tested the other connections from the basement but they are probably working.

I was under the impression that I had either #4 to hook a computer up to or I could use the down link which I thought just crossed a few wires to get the connection to work but I may be wrong.

If you use standard MDIX cables (orange pair on pins 1 & 2 on both
ends), make sure you have the downlink cables plugged into the "uplink"
ports on the other four switches.
Note that the "uplink" port is usually tied into the last port on the
switch and has the wire pairs on pins 1/2 (usually the orange pair) and
3/6 (usually the green pair) swapped. In other words, you can use the
last port OR the uplink port, but not both at the same time. It just
saves you from buying a "swapped" or MDI cable.
For those who want to know...
Standard (MDIX) wire colors (used for switch to computer
connections):
Pin Connector One Connector Two
--- ------------- -------------
1 Orange/White Orange/White
2 Orange Orange
3 Green/White Green/White
4 Blue Blue
5 Blue/White Blue/White
6 Green Green
7 Brown/White Brown/White
8 Brown Brown
Flipped (MDI) wire colors (for switch to switch connections):
Pin Connector One Connector Two
--- ------------- -------------
1 Orange/White Green/White
2 Orange Green
3 Green/White Orange/White
4 Blue Blue
5 Blue/White Blue/White
6 Green Orange
7 Brown/White Brown/White
8 Brown Brown
An "uplink" port does the MDI flip for you so you can use a standard
cable, but use the "uplink" port on ONE switch ONLY.
Pin 1 is on the left when looking at the non-latch side of the connector
with the cable towards your body (crappy ASCII art follows):
