I believe this is a false solving. By doing this you will make one of the
servers dependant of the other so this is not a *true* backup solution.
Someone asked once a similar question concerning backup MySQL servers (wich
by the way I haven't solved yet but I didn't do anything to solve it also...
I think that the answer should lye in the server software, but - start a new
thread if you like... :))) ). Anyway such solutions should reside either at
dns level and should be something like the bgp routing (if one route goes
down use alternate) or in a software on the alternate mail server that
should check if the primary is down and if so to update its network and
naming configuration to reflect changes. I believe even a bash script might
be enough for such a task.
Lets talk some more... :)
