Hello,

Like you I upgraded from F17 to F19 a month or so ago (still have a
couple of problems to sort out too!)

'powerdevil' seems to be part of the 'kde-workspace' package.
Online docs for it seem to be here: http://userbase.kde.org/Power_Devil

As it says, go to 'System Settings->Hardware->Power Management'.
Mine has the 'display Brightness' box unchecked (not sure if that is
relevant).

I can only seem to find references to powerdevil in the systemd journal
(old entries):

==========
Aug 25 02:20:03 jhorne dbus-daemon[453]: dbus[453]: [system] Activating
service name='org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper' (using servicehelper)
Aug 25 02:20:03 jhorne dbus[453]: [system] Activating service
name='org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper' (using servicehelper)
Aug 25 02:20:03 jhorne dbus-daemon[453]: no kernel backlight interface
found
Aug 25 02:20:03 jhorne dbus-daemon[453]: dbus[453]: [system]
Successfully activated service 'org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper'
Aug 25 02:20:03 jhorne dbus[453]: [system] Successfully activated
service 'org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper'
==========

Likewise I have a flat-screen monitor, but I don't see the messages you
have.
