Differing results from the 'groups' command

When a user enters the "groups" command on a Enterprise 4 WS system that
is in the same NIS domain as several Sun Solaris systems, the user only
gets a subset of the groups he/she is a member of.  The "groups" command
on Solaris, Solaris 9 in this case, shows all of the groups.  Why is
this?
