Commercial support for Amanda is also available from the current
maintainers of the source tree at www.zmanda.org. They do interesting
work. I've found the open source Amanda to be very powerful and
flexible, and blessedly free of proprietary formats so the tapes can
be recovered by any OS. (I wrote  what was perhaps the first SunOS
port of it many years back.)
