scp is what you really want to do
create keys using ssh-keygen.

I actually have created a document that explains the various openssh 
and ssh methods.  It's too large to paste into the email and I will see 
if I can attach it to this one.  It is in rich text format. (Sorry I 
use OSX as my desktop OS).  Hope it helps.
