After reading what it wanted to install and what it was complaining 
about, I did a 'rpm -qa | grep mozilla'  which produced :
mozilla-1.4.3-3.0.7
mozilla-nspr-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-nss-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-nss-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-chat-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-nspr-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-mail-1.7.3-18.EL4
!!! Two copies of mozilla hanging around, remove the old one!!
[root at sed-148 armstron]# rpm --erase mozilla-1.4.3
[root at sed-148 armstron]# rpm -qa | grep mozilla
mozilla-nspr-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-nss-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-nss-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-chat-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-nspr-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-1.7.3-18.EL4
mozilla-mail-1.7.3-18.EL4


Now up2 date works.
