[rhn-users] rhn.rpclib.InvalidRedirectionError

While trying to update RHES 4, I receive the following error:

error: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: headerRead failed: hdr blob(811909): BAD, read returned 294456
rhn.rpclib.InvalidRedirectionError

It seems to be selective on the the packages.  ie  It happens to some and other will update just fine. 
After much searching, it seems this is a new problem and related to Python and up2date.  Does anybody have information concerning this problem and how to resolve it?
