You are indeed correct that the slowness you have been
experiencing recently is related to the outage announcement
you referenced. I believe the slowness was due in part to
the recent release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 - I
believe that the initial demand for this release exceeded
expectations, unfortunately, so we could not anticipate and
warn you folks of the problem ahead of time (sorry, Daryl :(
). Therefore, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience
the resulting slowness may have caused you and your
organization.

That being said, you should not be continuing to experience
slowness -- it has already been addressed. It should not
take you over 20 seconds to log in, for example; this is not
typical for an RHN log in. (I think someone may have already
suggested this in the thread, but by disabling widgets on
the "Your RHN" front page, you can speed up log in
considerable. The controls to do this are in the preferences
page under the top-level "Your RHN" navigation.)

You do know that this list isn't an official avenue for
customer support, right? :) Did you call into customer
service with your login / account number and let them know
about the slowness you are experiencing with logins and
system details page displays? If not, I strongly recommend
that you do so if you have not already; logging the issues
you experience this way can ensure that your issue is
tracked properly and that someone looks into the problem.
There may be something particular to your account that is
causing the issue and there are a few things customer
support can walk you through to try to diagnose the issue.
We do really appreciate these issue reports because it may
alert us to issues that, once resolved, can help us improve
the RHN service for everyone.

I hope this information helps. If you have any issues
getting in touch with customer support and/or experience
issues in having your slowness issues investigated, please
feel free to contact me directly (duffy at redhat dot com)
and I would be happy to try to help.

~m
