Hi,

I think I've got a different issue registering a centos5 client.

Actually, it's related to installing the required tools for registration.

I followed the instructions at https://fedorahosted.org/spacewalk/wiki/RegisteringClients

But the only result of that was

# yum install rhn-client-tools rhn-check rhn-setup rhnsd m2crypto yum-rhn-plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Parsing package install arguments
Resolving Dependencies
--> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait.
---> Package yum-rhn-plugin.noarch 0:0.5.3-6.el5_2.6 set to be updated
---> Package rhn-setup.noarch 0:0.4.17-10.fc9 set to be updated
---> Package rhn-client-tools.noarch 0:0.4.17-10.fc9 set to be updated
---> Package rhn-check.noarch 0:0.4.17-10.fc9 set to be updated
---> Package rhnsd.i386 0:4.6.1-1.el5 set to be updated
---> Package m2crypto.i386 0:0.16-6.el5.2 set to be updated
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: rhnlib >= 2.1 for package: rhn-client-tools
--> Restarting Dependency Resolution with new changes.
--> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait.
---> Package rhnlib.noarch 0:2.2.5-3.fc9 set to be updated
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.5 for package: rhnlib
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.5 is needed by package rhnlib

Of course, I realized that I was pointing to a fedora repo so that was my mistake but now I'm wondering where I can get the packages for rhel/centos. I don't have a rhn subscription anymore.

On the CentOS5.1 release notes, it states that

# redhat-release-5Client
# redhat-release-5Server
# redhat-release-notes-5Client
# redhat-release-notes-5Server
# rhel-instnum
# rhn-check
# rhn-client-tools
# rhnlib
# rhnsd
# rhn-setup
# rhn-setup-gnome

Were removed from CentOS and included upstream. I'm not sure what that means exactly.

Can someone clarify this for me? I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thanks

Anoop
