I'm currently trying to install Spacewalk 1.3 with Oracle 11g ("Standard
Edition One").
I've followed these guides:
https://fedorahosted.org/spacewalk/wiki/HowToInstall
https://fedorahosted.org/spacewalk/wiki/OracleXeSetup
http://flakrat.blogspot.com/2010/04/migrate-red-hat-spacewalk-server-from.html
The latter guide being where I got my Oracle installation settings from.
I can install Oracle OK.
I can run "spacewalk-setup --disconnected", and it will happily populate
the "orcl" database for me.
My problems begin when the installer tries to restart osa-dispatcher,
which fails to start with the following:
2011/04/19 01:09:51 +01:00 31538 0.0.0.0:
rhnSQL/driver_cx_Oracle.check_connection('ERROR', "DATABASE CONNECTION
TO 'orcl' LOST", "Exception information: 'NoneType' object has no
attribute 'cursor'")
2011/04/19 01:09:51 +01:00 31538 0.0.0.0:
rhnSQL/driver_cx_Oracle.connect('Connecting to database', 'orcl')
2011/04/19 01:09:51 +01:00 31538 0.0.0.0:
rhnSQL/driver_cx_Oracle.connect('ERROR', 'Connection attempt failed',
12154, 'ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier
specified\n')
2011/04/19 01:09:51 +01:00 31538 0.0.0.0: osad/jabber_lib.main('ERROR',
'Error caught:')
2011/04/19 01:09:51 +01:00 31538 0.0.0.0: osad/jabber_lib.main('ERROR',
'Traceback (most recent call last):\n File

File

line 385, in connect\n raise apply(sql_base.SQLConnectError,
err_args)\nSQLConnectError: (12154, \'ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve
the connect identifier specified\\n\', \'orcl\', \'Connection_Connect():
server attach\')\n')
I'm not really sure why its failing; my hostname (spacewalk.example.com)
is in /etc/hosts and I've also got a local DNS server which is
pretending to be authoritative for example.com.
Connecting on the commandline as my spacewalk user works just fine
though, so I'm stumped:
[root at spacewalk ~]# sqlplus spacewalk/spacewalk at orcl

Can anyone offer any advice?
