[zanata-users] Understanding main features and basic workflow

Hi Natali, 

1) I am not sure exactly what your responsibility is but I am assuming it is kind of like project manager role? i.e. managing iterations of the same project? The best fit may be project maintainer role. If you are the one who created the project, you are automatically the project maintainer. You can add more people to that list if you wish. The privilege is you are allow to create new version of that project. Manage each version's language list (translatable language), validation rule setting and copy translation setting. 

2) Default role is user, which has pretty much read only access to Zanata. A user needs to join a/some language team(s) to be able to translate things on Zanata. They can request to join a language team by go to the language page. Admin or language co-ordinator can also assign users to their team. 

3) Zanata doesn't have a per project users manage by default. By default, once your project is created with languages enabled, let's say Chinese is one of them. All Chinese translator are able to translate your project. Reviewers of Chinese language team are able to review your project. So as project maintainers of your project (translate and review). This is mostly for open source projects. 
If you want to restrict access only to certain user: 
In your project settings, click on Permissions tab and there is a checkbox "Restrict access to certain user roles?". Tick that then it will show you current available list of roles. You will need to ask admin to create a specific role representing your company. Once that role is created, you can then manage who can access your project. 

4) Click on Settings tab, select Languages, you will see a list of languages. Hover over each one there is a cross symbol on the right which allows you to remove one language from your project. By default on creation of a project, it will inherit all languages that a Zanata server has. Again this is desirable for open source projects. People from the community may contribute to a language you never thought about. 

translate.zanata.org is free for all and targeting mostly open source projects. Most of the default settings is suitable for open source projects. If you need customization like above you may want to consider setting up a Zanata server instance inside your company.
