tricks to getting the internal NIC working on AS200

Im not sure why my internal NIC is not working for my AS200 4/166, I
have a fresh install of AC 0.9, the module appears to be loaded, however
when I try and assign it an IP with ifconfig I get:

# ifconfig 10.100.100.41
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device

# lsmod
Module		Size	Used by
tulip		77712	0
crc32		4864	1 tulip

I haven't spent much time trying to figure this out yet, but I thought I
would ask the list while I dig.
