Just one idea: are you *CRAZY*? ;-}

There *MAY* be drivers for S3/ARK/Cloud9 *BUILT* for Alpha,
but *YOU* may be the *ONLY* one to *ACTUALLY* try them in an Alpha.

How's it feel being a pioneer? ;-}

I did try an S3Trio64 during testing, and while it "worked", was
VERY FRAGILE. No straight S3 card tried, though.

I've never heard reports from other Alpha folks that had actually
tried an ARK or Cloud9 card; I don't think I've ever even SEEN one,
let alone tried it out. We (DEC/COMPAQ/HP) never sold any in our
Alphas, AFAIK, so there'd not been any reason to check them out.

So, my NEXT idea is: find one of the following, which will probably
do the trick for graphics:

1. Matrox Millennium I, II, G200, G400 (I had trouble with G450)
2. Permedia 2 or 3 based card (ELSA Gloria, Oxygen VX1, etc)
3. ATI Radeons (not sure if they'll work in an AS1200)
4. 3DFx Voodoo3 (though there may be some doubt, esp. on AS1200)

I've even been able to get an ATI Rage 128 going in 3D, though it IS
quite slow, compared to the Radeons.

Some of the old nVidia PCI cards, like TNT or TNT2, may work, though
again the SRM console BIOS emulation on the AS1200 may not be up to it.
