What distribution will work with the virtual machine on a Mac?

 Hello, my subject line pretty much explains the big situation.  What I’m wondering is  will Fedora work better than Ubuntu?  The other thing that I apparently a bank must consider,  will any of this work would speech in a virtual machine environment?  Any thoughts from anyone?
