I think the CD part is throwing everyone off.  The CD would never have to be 
updated unless the way a system hard drive is configured, the software that 
is used for this changes, or a totally new way of setting up a system

The CD is only used to prepare the hard drive, activate the network card and 
ask you with yum repository and what software you would like to have 
installed.  Nothing more!  This doesn't seem to be that big of a deal but I 
guess I was wrong.

Only if you could point it to a yum repository and install from there.  And if 
that is the case please explain how it is done.

That might be true, but I don't maintain a large number of machine.  I am just 
looking for a simple way to only have to download and install the most 
up-to-date files without having to download 3 CD's and then run Yum only to 
have to download another 2G of software.
