Thanks, Eric that did the trick and I've just successfully run the rpm
--rebuilddb command without that process hanging or remaining in my
process list.  Chalk that up to being a bug in FC3 as well as RH9??

BTW: I also had one of those 'gee!' moments when replying :-).  I hit
reply to your message in Evolution while I had your line about rm (as
shown quoted above) highlighted/selected in your original message - and
that is ALL Evo quoted in this reply!  I must remember that to save
deleting unnecessary text in future replies.  Maybe old news to many,
but first time I've seen it.
