[K12OSN] Gnome power management issues

This may have been covered recently - but it's hard to google the list in it's new display mode -  my apologies for any "overlap".

After installing 5.0 (which seems to be working quite well - nice work all) we keep seeing a "gnome power manager" application unexpectly quit.  I've yum updated the servers, but there doesn't seem to be a fix in that.  Is there a way around this - or even to shut the desktop manager off?  Since DPMS is powering down the monitors, there doesn't seem to be a need for the application.
