I think you got it right, what's confusing might be WUI display bug/feature, I'll let WUI guys (Scott and Hugh) decide...
Anyway to set the terminology straight: see the diagram at http://ovirt.org/documentation.html
In a production setup each component could be distributed to a separate machine,
while in simplified 'developer' setup we have:
'developer' VM = appliance fulfilling the role of both Admin Node and Storage Node
'node3-5' VMs = Managed Nodes, Managed Domains are using QEMU (so really just for development)
So node3 is using storage exported from 'developer' and not serving as a storage node.
