The system does get registered properly and you can immediately perform
an "yum update" command with no issue.

Does the system have an update entitlement? The source code of the
hasBaseChannelAndUpdates check says:

	Returns a bool indicating whether the system has registered,
	subscribed to a base channel, and has at least update
	entitlements.  Uses information from the most recent time
	the create profile screen was run through.
