DB migration - Postgres - Spacewalk 1.8 (Tom Brown)
Re: Spacewalk-list Digest, Vol 57, Issue 9 (template issue)
Tom - for postgres, pg_dump and pg_restore work great. For embedded
Oracle we run a back up script using db-control, which from man pages says
" db-control - utility for managing the RHN Satellite database" You can
use this to restore as well.
Backup
------------
su - oracle -c 'logdir=/logs/techserv;
backupdir=/software/backups;
d=db-backup-$(date "+%F");
log=$logdir/$d.log;
mkdir -p $backupdir/$d;
db-control backup $backupdir/$d;
db-control verify $backupdir/$d' >> $log 2>&1
Restore from man page for db-control
-----------------
db-control restore DIRNAME
Restores the database from backup kept in DIRNAME. Database
must be stopped for this
command to run successfully.
Before restoring, the files in DIRNAME are verified. Once all
files are verified
successfully, the restore runs. Once the restore is
completed, the database may be
started and run normally.
Jonathan,
Glad that worked for you. For the syslinux, I know when I ran a cobbler
get-loaders I got the wrong syslinux which caused syslinux error and I had
problems when I ran cobbler buildiso. To resolve this I updated and copied
the menu.c32 to /var/lib/cobbler/loaders which resolved my issue. Not sure
if this syslinux is same problem you seen? Here's link
https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/ticket/606

Thank you for the nudge in the right direction. I don't know why I didn't
try to isolate it that way to begin with. You're 100% correct; there was
an
unhappy snippet. Once isolated and removed from the post file the
kickstart
compiled properly. I blew away, resync'd cobbler (found an error about
missing syslinux package... not sure why that didn't install as part of
the
spacewalk install if it's a requirement), re-added the snippet, and we're
good to go.
Thanks again!
