[Spacewalk-list] localhost.localdomain

It works fine here...with centos/redhat/sles/opensuse

The only difference it seems from what you have said is apart from creating A & ptr record is we create a dhcp reservation for the host with it's name. I'm not sure if that's relevant though..

Hi. All.
I have the same problem.

I tried to understand the problem.

I came to the following conclusions:
Spacewalk takes the hostname from /etc/sysconfig/network from "HOSTNAME" parameter.
This parameter records the Anaconda during the OS installation.

Conclusion:
Correspondingly, there are some problems when resolving a hostname during the installation of the OS.

It would be nice, if rhnsd took the name of the host performing the command (for example, "hostanme-f"), and not from the config file, as many are using DHCP.

Dear all,

Currently I tried to kickstart a host via dhcp tftp, all is working fine but when I go to spacewalk interface the host is registered as localhost.localdomain. I configured a PTR into my dns and the IP is really resolved. Do you have any idea about this?

Best regards,
