[Spacewalk-list] Replacing the Jabberd database

Avi,

You wrote those procedures? Jan-Albert provided the link to the postgres steps and I followed them, on my test server. They are very clear and easy to use.

Prior to my posting this question, I looked at other steps to moving to sqlite, they looked challenging, and I didn't want to give it a try. I would do something wrong, and break my database. Your steps for using sqlite are much easier, and clearer. I'll give them a try on my test system.

So, which is preferred by the community? sqlite, or postqres?

Thanks

Daryl

Hi,

On 23 Mar 2017, at 11:50 pm, Daryl Rose <darylrose at outlook.com<mailto:darylrose at outlook.com>> wrote:

I've always had issues with clients machines connecting to the SW server. In the past, others have suggested replacing the Jabberd database with something else, but I don't remember what that is. So, I am hoping that someone can pass on that information to me. What should I replace Jabbered DB with, and are there detailed steps out there?

I wrote up two procedures, one to switch to SQLite and the other to switch to PostgreSQL:

SQLite: https://omg.dje.li/2017/02/configuring-spacewalks-jabberd-to-use-an-sqlite-backend/
PostgreSQL: https://omg.dje.li/2017/03/configuring-spacewalks-jabberd-to-use-a-postgresql-backend/

Let me know if you have any questions or if the steps aren’t clear. :)

Cheers,
Avi
